About the pharmacy

Employees of El Paso County and the City of Colorado Springs have the unique opportunity of using pharmacies dedicated solely to providing medications for them and their eligible family members. These pharmacies, conveniently located on the lower level of the County office building at 27 E. Vermijo and at 5850 Championship View, feature automated systems to ensure both patient safety, convenience, and cost savings. The County - City Employee Pharmacies are staffed by experienced, dedicated pharmacy staff offering the highest quality of pharmaceutical care at the most economical means for you to have your prescriptions filled.

Transferring local retail prescriptions to the County - City Employee Pharmacy Program is quick and easy. All you have to do is stop by the Pharmacy with your medication bottles or call with the prescription number, name, and phone number of the pharmacy where your prescriptions are currently on file. Some medications may only be transferred between pharmacies once, and if this is the case you may need to obtain a new prescription from your health care provider.

One difference that the County - City Employee Pharmacy Program will have over pharmacies you are currently using is that we will be able to provide you up to a 90-day supply of medication for chronic medications (examples include medications for high blood pressure, diabetes, heart conditions, etc.), if allowed by law and your provider. This means you would only have to get your prescription filled and refilled 4 times a year. In most cases, the 90-day supply is only 2 1/2 times the co-pay of a 30-day supply, so you save half a co-pay every three months. To take advantage of these cost savings, it is best to contact your health care provider and request that new prescriptions for a 90-day supply be written and faxed to the County - City Employee Pharmacy Program. We will process these new prescriptions and place them in an "on hold" status until you need them. Then, all you need to do is call the Pharmacy 7 business days before you need your prescriptions filled and we will mail them to your home or office. It's that simple.

We can mail your medications to your home or deliver them directly to your office, using inter-office mail, provided we have your prescription and co-pay information on file. We are dedicated to making your pharmacy experience as quick and convenient as possible.
